My Story

Evangelist Bubinea Deborah Owens was born to Minister Paul and Dorothy Lyles on October 18, 1947 in Norristown, Pa. She has been described as a diligent child with a pleasant demeanor and a great burgeoning talent. She attended Norristown schools and graduated from Eisenhower Sr. High School. She continued her education by attending Philadelphia College of Art, where she studied Fashion Design. She is the wife of her childhood sweetheart, Apostle Larry T. Owens, Pastor of Faith Tabernacle Congregation. From her marriage was born seven children. Although she had what some would call a large family, she felt the need to share her love with three additional children which she and her husband adopted.

Evangelist Owens is the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. Early in their marriage, she and her husband dove into three very lucrative business ventures. They owned a home for convalescence in the area, a tailoring shop/dry cleaners, and a neighborhood convenience store. She managed to master the delicate balance of being a business woman and homemaker seamlessly. Evangelist Owens has held a strong sense of conviction and dedication to the church since she was a child. She was baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at the tender age of 12. She has always had a special love of music and rendered her talents unto the Lord. At the age of 15 she began to play the organ, after being prayed for by her deceased Chief Apostle, Apostle S.P. Rawlings. She continued to use this precious gift to serve the church whenever her services were needed. She served as the church’s organist and Music Department head on a local, state, district, and national level for more than 35 years. While in this capacity she has been a mentor to many great musicians that have moved on to perform nationally. Some of her pupils have moved on to become ministers of the Gospel, recording artists, and accomplished musicians. She has remained faithful to her local church as well as the body of Christ as a whole. She accepted the call to the ministry at the age of 30 under the tutelage of the late Mother I. B. SessomsHoward. She was ordained an Evangelist by the laying on of hands of the late chief apostle, Apostle Fred C. Scott. Her need to be an efficient minister of the Gospel was the catalyst for her attendance at the Philadelphia College of Bible, where her study concentration focused on obtaining a more comprehensive understanding of God’s Word.

Due to her faithfulness to God and the House of God she has been given the title of Elect Lady, which is one of the highest titles given to women in the House of God organization. As a minister of the Gospel she has travelled extensively with her husband spreading the Gospel nationally and internationally. Evangelist Owens currently works diligently in her local congregation. In 2005, after seeing a great need for a positive women’s ministry, she founded the Women of Integrity ministry. This ministry has been a blessing in giving instruction to the younger women of the church as well as bridging the gap that sometimes exists with women of different age groups. It has also been a blessing to the local community by providing a breakfast bible study where the less fortunate are fed a nutritious meal while being instructed in the Word of God. This ministry has also made room for a seniors’ assistance ministry. She has ensured that every person’s practical and spiritual needs are met. Evangelist Owens has mastered the difficult mission of becoming many things to many people. To her husband she is Bina-a supportive wife, to her children she is Mom-a nurturing mother, to her grandchildren she’s Mom-Mom-a stern yet loving grandmother, to the local church members Sister Bina or Lady Owens-a true believer that encourages others to serve God whole-heartedly, to those in her local community she is Mrs. Owens-an example of the Proverbs 31 woman (always pro-active with an ever-ready smile and friendly word of encouragement), in the church world she is Evangelist Owens-a preacher that loves God, to the National church officials she’s a faithful member, First Lady, a musician par excellence, but above all she is a true woman of God. She loves the people of God everywhere; and utilizes every opportunity available to show the love of God locally and abroad in Word and deed.
