My Story

At the young age of 14 he was received into the House of God, 519 E. Moore Street filled with the Holy Ghost and called to be a Deacon during the administration of Elder H. C. Daniels. As he matured, a young lady Bubinea Lyles, who was saved, sanctified and Holy Ghost filled caught his eye. To him she was the essence of beauty and just what he wanted. So after pursuing her, they were married on February 2, 1969. While serving the church, and learning of God’s ways they were blessed with seven beautiful children.

Deacon Owens attended Pierce Jr. College, La Salle University, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree; Gratz Hebrew College and Eastern Bible Seminary Graduate Program, and many other courses of study. While in church the spirit fell and allowed Mother Minnie Hopkins from Atlantic City, NJ to prophesy that Deacon Owens would have an anointed ministry. He was so eager to work that whatever his hands found to do, he would do. As it was prophesied, he became a local minister. His first message was given under Elect Lady I. B. Sessoms-Howard (518 Green Street). He took his text from Revelations 2:2-3 and he preached about the “Seven Churches of Asia”. His ministry indeed did grow and he was anointed by Elect Lady Sessoms-Howard to be her Assistant Pastor.

Through the leadership of this team the congregation blossomed from 10 to 150 members. The need quickly arose for a new building. We purchased the former Norristown Library and First Methodist Church and expanded the sanctuary. When the convention came to Norristown in 1979 Minister Owens was anointed to be Elder Owens. In 1989 Bishop S. P. Rawlings consecrated Elder Owens to the office of Vicar Bishop. He was also appointed by our late Chief Apostle S. P. Rawlings to be the Officiator of the House of God Bar Mitzvah Ministry. Since that time he has worked steadfastly and was given the jurisdiction of the House of God, Pennsylvania churches. In 1996, Vicar Bishop Larry T. Owens was given the reigns of leadership of House of God, 542 Dekalb Street, Norristown, Pennsylvania. On December 6, 1997 he was officially installed as Pastor by our late Chief Apostle of the House of God, Inc., Bishop Fred C. Scott. In 2008, Vicar Bishop Larry T. Owens was consecrated to the office of Ordained Bishop in the House of God, Inc. Bishop Larry T. Owens is the man with a vision, leading the people to a New Dimension with Mega Blessings!
